What to look for in a Cabling Contractor

COMMUNICATION PLANNING CORPORATION is a family owned and operated low voltage cabling contractor (licensed in Florida and Georgia), headquartered in Jacksonville, FL.

CPC has served the business community of Duval County and North Florida for over 30 years. The company is active in and support BICSI, TIA, NLVCA, NFPA, NAED, and NECA.

CPC installs and maintains telecommunications systems and equipment as well as CAT 5E, CAT 6 copper data cable and fiber optic cable. Testing, labeling and verification are included.

Michael Shannahan, VP of Operations said, "Communication Planning Corporation is the leader in North Florida. We deliver quality service for your communication and wiring needs, while reducing your costs for moves adds and changes."

LICENSING REQUIRED
Additionally, as required by the State of Florida, Communication Planning Corporation is properly licensed by the Department of Business and Professional Regulation Electrical Contractors Licensing Board (CPC License: FL # ES12000711 & GA # LVT305404).

A valid Specialty Electrical Contractor - Limited Energy Systems or Low Voltage Telecommunications license is required for the installation of ANY low voltage cabling, including voice and data cabling, within the State of Florida or Georgia.

If an unlicensed installer is found to be working in violation of this requirement, the installer, as well as the customer who contracted the installer and the building owner, may be heavily fined and all work at the site may be required to cease.

FUTURE PROOFING
No one wants to re-cable because the very best cable technology wasn't used. CPC is constantly researching available technologies and to find the most cost effective technology offering that delivers the maximum capabilities for future upgrades without replacing the cable. "Getting by with the least" does not represent a strategy for the future.

The remarkable increases in technology place a challenge on management to design and purchase systems that can support change with relatively minor expense. Cabling decisions are long term and will have a significant impact on cost and capability down the road. The cabling system you choose today should become a valuable asset, not a costly liability. Since the cable plant is imbedded infrastructure, one of the most valuable assets you can build is a barrier to obsolescence. Obsolete cable means costly re-cabling. Cabling should support current and next generation data and voice networks.

ENVIRONMEMTAL
Communication Planning Corporation is environmentally aware and the cabling they utilize for projects is RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) compliant. The core of the RoHS directive is: Lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB's) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) are all identified and restricted by EU-RoHS. All are known to be hazardous and toxic to the general public and surrounding environment.

THE EXTRA EFFORT
Communication Planning Corporation has been recognized for their professional skills by their customers for many years. This customer comment is typical: "It's so refreshing to work with a professional who not only knows his job but takes the extra effort to ensure clear communication with the customer. You've been very helpful to us in getting our data line dropped at this facility and I truly appreciate it." Michelle Gilleo, CPC VP Service said "We appreciate the compliment and your business. We do strive to make sure every customer is kept informed and ultimately satisfied with the end result of the work and the way they were treated. Being in business for 30 years, we know that you don't just "get customers", you earn friends. That is the end result we reach for. We consider customers part of our circle of friends. And we will continue to treat you as such."
